Casa del Stewart!

Apparently my goal is to write every post title in a foreign language until I have to start using Google translate. I'm thinking one more post until I have to hit that up. Mon français n'est pas très bon! (Jamie, please don't make fun of me if I didn't even say that right.)

So anyways, today is Jason and I's three week anniversary and my one week anniversary in Germany. So far my conclusions about Germany? 1.) It's so incredibly beautiful 2.) It feels more like Christmas here than it's felt like to me in years 3.) No matter what you order in a German restaurant, it all looks and tastes the same (some variation of potatoes and fried pork) 4.) I will never pass my German driver's license test, and even if I do, I will never a.) drive on the autobahn - especially at dark, b.) remember that I can't turn right on red and cause a wreck, c.) be able to park our car in our underground ridiculously small parking spot. All kidding aside, I love where we live in Germany, and every one of you reading this (unless you are stranger that just stumbled upon our blog) better book a flight to come visit ASAP! JB & Timbo already did for January. :)

I really wanted to show you guys exactly where we live. It's 3 spiral staircase stories above a bakery. (note: how badly my legs burn and how much I sweat coupled with the fact that I almost always have to take a break on my hike up here leads me to believe I am burning off all the calories consumed in the bakery. The scale unfortunately tells me otherwise.) So I am starting off with a map of Germany:

The big red star is us. We are almost exactly two hours east of Frankfurt, where we usually fly into on our way home. Jason has trained me to say we live in "Upper Franconia --> Bavaria --> Bamberg". I have no idea if that's right or not, but it's how I at least try to remember to explain it.

And here is our bakery home:

It's a tiny little picture, but it's the best one I could steal off their website, ha. It's been SO cloudy and rainy here that I can't get a decent picture of Langstrasse to save my life.

Welcome to our home!

What a sweet picture of my darling husband welcoming in guests! Okay, so I took this last night on my phone after we walked down the street to get ice cream and something you can compare to a mudslide well after we were in our jammies for the night. Cravings...what can ya do? I might be pregnant! Just kidding. Although I did dream I was...okay, let's stop it there and not jinx it.

Now before I show you the rest of our apartment, I want you to keep something in mind: very little has been decorated and almost none of my belongings are here! Jason, being a very manly man, lives perfectly happy without a lot, and I really commend him on that! But couches will be a nice addition to our living room in a few weeks when our shipment of household goods arrive. :)

Here is our cute little kitchen (just to the right when you walk in):

Can't see our oven in this pic? Oh, don't worry. It's because we don't have one! But the shiny silver thing under our painted coconut head (of course) does the trick for most small things we bake.

Right across from the kitchen is our dining room. Seen here:

Seeing Jason's Army backpacks will be a recurring theme in these pictures. And attached to the dining room, our precious, cozy living room. I can't wait to get our furniture/decor in here!

I really do love this room. Man, I lied. I said you'd see an Army backpack in every picture. This one has an Army pillow. And a husband who is on the phone while simultaneously playing Call of Duty. Go figure.

And just down the hall (pictured), is our changing room!

No closets in Germany = changing room consolation. Hey look! An Army backpack in the corner. I like to keep good on my word.

And here are our spectacularly trendy bathroom and bedroom. I actually really like both (minus the salmon colored flower tiles).

So there you have it - The Stewart's first home. Stay tuned in the next 6-8 weeks or so to see the after pictures after we get it all set up and decorated! I'm so excited for our 29 boxes/furniture to come, you don't even know.
